DPM Marković confident about meeting European Commission recommendations

Podgorica, Montenegro (28 September 2011) – Deputy Prime Minister Duško Marković met with the newly appointed German Ambassador Pius Fischer earlier today for talks on Montenegro’s European agenda and reforms processes.

DPM Marković said he firmly believes that the European Commission will in its October report recognise the results Montenegro has achieved in meeting the EU accession recommendations outlined in the Commission’s Opinion. He underlined that the entire society is involved in pursuing the European agenda and that notable results have been achieved in virtually all areas covered by the Opinion. Mr Marković particularly underlined the progress in the areas of rule of law, judiciary reform and fight against organised crime and corruption.

The two officials concluded that Montenegro and Germany will continue to cooperate in the best spirit of partnership towards Montenegro’s EU integration.
