Deputy PM Vujica Lazovic discusses economic cooperation in Shanghai

Deputy Prime Minister Vujica Lazovic headed the Montenegrin delegation at the Third meeting of the intergovernmental committee on economic and trade cooperation between Montenegro and China. During the visit to Shanghai, the Montenegrin delegation discussed local government, possible investment from China, economic and trade cooperation possibilities, e-Government solutions and various tourism concepts.

 The development concept of Shanghai, as one of the biggest world business centers, can set an example for the organization of local government elsewhere, Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister Vujica Lazovic and Shanghai Vice-Mayor Tang Deng Jie agreed at a meeting on Tuesday.

 Deputy Prime Minister Lazovic acquainted the Vice Mayor with current projects in Montenegro in the areas of energy supply and infrastructure, which may be attractive for Shanghai investors. They also discussed the possibility of using the Port of Bar as an access point to the European market for Shanghai, one of the biggest Asian ports.

The Montenegrin delegation also met with the Vice President of Huawei Technologies Co., one of China’s leading companies in the area of information technology, which is about to open its branch in Montenegro. They focused on the implementation of the e-Government solutions, which is of great importance for Montenegro.

During the visit to the 2010 World EXPO, the Montenegrin delegation met with commissioners general of Montenegro, China, Germany, Japan, Switzerland and Taiwan pavilions.

A visit to Chongming Island and its mayor was an opportunity for the Montenegrin delegation to get acquainted with tourism development concept based on nature conservation, use of the island’s resources and pure technologies.
