Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic emphasized, during his meeting with Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov in Podgorica on Wednesday, that the traditional friendship, good mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries have never been interrupted.
Therefore, PM Djukanovic added, there is plenty of room for overall economic, bilateral and regional cooperation, as well as close relations through the European and Euro-Atlantic structures in the future. The Prime Minister said that, bearing in mind the opportunities and the applicable agreements, the economic relations between the two countries are likely to grow.
He also underlined that integration was a common goal for all the countries of the Region, highlighting that, as a result of its full commitment to integration, Montenegro has joined NATO’s Membership action plan and expects to obtain the candidate status for the EU membership.
Regional cooperation between the two countries is of utmost significance for the two counties’ preparation for the EU and NATO membership, President Ivanov emphasized, adding that there are no outstanding issues between Montenegro and Macedonia, which will facilitate the realization of joint cooperation and projects and promote social development.
The development of economic ties depends on rapid realisation of infrastructure projects, which will be visible especially after completing the Adriatic – Ionian Highway, which will enable much faster movement of goods and tourists in the region, President Ivanov concluded.
