Regional School of Public Administration (ReSPA) opened in Montenegro

Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourghood Policy Stefan Fule and Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic inaugurated Thursday, November 11, the Regional School of Public Administration (ReSPA) in Danilovgrad.

The opening of the school comes at a very important – at the time when the Opinion was adopted that brought a lot of good news for the region, and especially Montenegro, but also some recommendations on the actions that the state and the region have to undertake, said Commissioner Fule.

PM Djukanovic reiterated the importance of meeting the priorities outlined by the EU and pledged Montenegro’s full commitment to this end for the sake of the progress and wellbeing of the people of Montenegro. He added that a well-educated administration is one of the most important pillars of a society.

Commissioner Fule and PM Djukanovic stressed that Montenegro and the whole region need to improve the rule of law, independent judiciary, fight against organised crime and corruption, administrative capacities build-up, and regional cooperation. In that respect, they concluded that this school is of great importance, as it marries two of those goals by being a regional school of public administration.

ReSPA is an international organisation entrusted with the mission of advancing regional cooperation in the field of public administration in the Western Balkans. ReSPA is a therefore dubbed a unique historical endeavour, established to support the creation of accountable, effective and professional public administration systems for the Western Balkans on their way to EU accession.
