Montenegrin police denies allegations of suspected drug-lord Darko Saric hiding in Montenegro

There are no indications that Interpol fugitive and suspected drug-lord Darko Saric is hiding in Montenegro, contrary to the allegations made in the Serbian media earlier today, the Montenegrin police have announced.

The police dismissed as absurd the media reports that Saric is hiding in Montenegro “under the protection of Montenegrin authorities”, particularly given the recent arrest of his brother Dusko Saric, which was carried out by the Montenegrin police in close cooperation with Italian law enforcement authorities and under an arrest warrant issued by Interpol Rome.

Furthermore, Montenegrin judicial authorities have given Dusko Saric a one-month pre-trial detention on suspicion of organizing a criminal group in conjunction with the crime of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of illegal drugs.

Apart from Saric, the Montenegrin police have also arrested Serbian citizens Vitomir Bajic and Srpko Klisura based on a wanted notice issued by Interpol Rome.

Finally, the Montenegrin police voiced commitment to apprehending any Interpol fugitive discovered on Montenegro’s soil.
