Montenegro supports the global efforts against common security challenges as a precondition for the strengthening of peace, stability and progress, PM Milo Djukanovic told the Meeting of NATO Heads of State and Government on Afghanistan held in Lisbon on November 20, 2010.

Addressing this meeting, as well as the Meeting of Heads of Delegation of the Adriatic Charter countries, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that ISAF is on the right track to creating preconditions for a smooth transition of government in Afghanistan by combining military, political and civilian efforts.

He reiterated Montenegro’s full support to this mission and presented Montenegrin efforts in this regard, including the deployment of the second rotation of Montenegro’s servicemen within the Hungarian contingent, under German command.

At the Meeting of Heads of Delegation of the Adriatic Charter (A5) countries, PM Djukanovic underlined in particular the importance of regional cooperation and wished every success to the member states in their Euro-Atlantic integration. He stressed that the Adriatic Charter is an excellent mechanism for cooperation between member states and their integration processes.

He welcomed the progress made by other Adriatic Charter countries and reiterated what Montenegro has done in this regard, including the recently adopted Annual National Programme (ANP) under NATO’s Membership Action Plan (MAP).

By the same token, the PM also underlined the importance of Montenegro’s chairmanship over three regional initiatives (AII, CEFTA, SEECP).
