At the meeting with DG Enlargement officials, Ministers of Interior and Justice, Ivan Brajovic and Miras Radovic announced the Government’s intention to draft an Action Plan on meeting the seven key priorities set out in the European Commission (EC) Opinion on Montenegro’s EU membership application. The draft Action Plan will be presented to the EC and is scheduled to be discussed at the following DG Enlargement-Government meeting in January.
The Ministers and Director for the Western Balkans at DG Enlargement Pierre Mirel met ahead the EU-Western Balkans Forum on Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) which is held annually in Brussels.
The Montenegrin officials thanked the Commission for its realistic and objective opinion and acquainted Mr Mirel with the Government’s efforts towards meeting the requirements for the opening of EU accession negotiations, undertaken immediately after the Opinion was released.
Mr Mirel remarked that organised crime is a regional problem and requires regional efforts. He welcomed, in particular, the extradition agreements signed with Croatia and Serbia, as well as measures undertaken under these, which he said represents the progress in the Western Balkans in the fight against organised crime.
