Michael Spindelegger, Minister of European and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Austria, has said that Montenegro can count on Austria’s support at the forthcoming session of the European Council when the decision on granting the candidate status is expected.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Milan Roćen met in Vienna on Tuesday with his Austrian counterpart Michael Spindelegger for talks on the integration process of Montenegro and bilateral cooperation.
Minister Spindelegger congratulated on the “admirable results” achieved thus far in the integration process, adding that the Montenegrin Government is facing new challenges and increasingly demanding tasks in the coming phases of the accession process.
He concluded that the results Montenegro has achieved are a guarantee that the Government and other actors will successfully respond to new obligations.
The two Ministers also discussed avenues for improving bilateral relations, noting that ever more Austrian companies are present in Montenegro, as well as that Austria is one of the leading investors in Montenegro. They agreed that this fact affirms excellent bilateral relations and pledged to improve them even further.
