Deputy Prime Minister Luksic participates in Tbilisi business environment conference

BureauMontenegrin Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Igor Luksic participated in a two-day conference on business environment in Tbilisi on 29 and 30 November sponsored by the International Financial Corporation (IFC) and the Government of Georgia.

The first day of the conference focused on establishing ’’one stop shops’’ for company registration, issuing of building permits and real estate registration, areas in which Georgia tops Doing Business reports.

On the second day, the DPM presented Montenegro’s reform efforts in the areas of public finance, structural reform and advancement of business environment, with particular reference to the issuance of building permits, tax payments, real estate registration and execution of contracts.

During his visit to Georgia, DPM Luksic met with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili and Foreign Minister Grigor Vasadze for talks on current economic affairs and issues of international significance.

DPM Luksic and MFA Vasadze expressed satisfaction with the intensification of bilateral relations between the two countries, adding there is room for further enhancement of economic ties, especially in the fields of tourism, energy and trade.

On the sidelines of the conference, the DPM also met with his Ukrainian counterpart Sergey Tigipko. In the context of Montenegro’s accession to the World Trade Organisation, the two officials voiced readiness to meet, as soon as possible, the necessary conditions for the conclusion of an agreement between the two countries. They also explored the possibilities for compromise on the issue and agreed to continue talks in December.
