Montenegrin and Italian police set to continue close cooperation

The Italian and Montenegrin police are set to continue intensive exchange of operational information and the planning and conduct of joint investigations and operations, Police Director Veselin Veljovic and his Italian counterpart Antonio Manganelli said during their meeting in the margins of the SEPCA General Assembly Meeting on Tuesday, November 30.
The two officials underlined that their future cooperation should focus on the fight against organised crime, conduct of financial investigations and prevention of drug trafficking and illegal migration.
The Italian Police are ready, as Director Manganelli confirmed, to continue the successful cooperation with their Montenegrin counterparts that has resulted in the arrests of a number organised crime suspects. He also offered Italy’s support to the process of reform and development of professional capacities of the Montenegrin police.
Director Veljovic reiterated the Montenegrin Government’s commitment to combat all forms of crime, underlining that the Montenegrin police force remains a reliable partner for regional and international cooperation, serving the interests of regional security and public safety in the process of EU and NATO integration.
