PM Djukanovic welcomes US support to health programme in North

Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic inaugurated Wednesday a new Emergency Room and a reconstructed Health Centre in Kolasin, which were built with the assistance and funding ($400,000) of the US Military Presence in Europe (EUCOM). The donation was part of the international military and health exercise under NATO ''MEDCEUR 2010'' held in Montenegro from September 8-22.

PM Djukanovic welcomed this project as bringing about one of the key health reforms: equal access to high-quality medical protection in all parts of Montenegro. These will in turn, as he said, help promote sustainable development of the North of Montenegro and enhance the quality of life of the local population.

PM Djukanovic expressed gratitude to the US Government, people and the Military for continued support and over $2 million worth of investments in Montenegro since 2007, especially underlining the role of the US Embassy in Podgorica and the Defence Attaché’s Office (DAO) in coordinating the EUCOM humanitarian aid programme.

The PM stressed that this is yet another in the series of successful examples of excellent cooperation between Montenegro and the US, underlining the continued support of the US to the stability and development of Montenegro. He expressed pleasure at the strengthening of the Montenegro-US partnership, which, in his words, remains vital in the days to come.
