The Government of the Kingdom of Sweden strongly supports the EU enlargement policy towards the Western Balkans, said Swedish Ambassador to Montenegro Christer Aspa during his meeting with Prime Minister Igor Luksic on Tuesday, February 1.

“We wish to see all of the Western Balkans states in the EU as soon as possible,” said Ambassador Aspa.

PM Luksic familiarised the Ambassador with the Government’s priorities in meeting the “European agenda” and reaching higher living standards for citizens. He underlined that the Government has already taken a number of measures aimed at meeting the EC recommendations outlined in the Action Plan.

PM Luksic stressed that it is important to include as many stakeholders as possible for the entire process of integration to go smoothly and successfully.

“If everyone involved in these processes gives their due contribution and show dedication to reform, the goal is attainable,” said PM Luksic.

The two officials were unequivocal in their assessment that the commencement of EU entry talks will be a positive signal for the investors and will affect favourably the economic development of Montenegro.
