Foreign diplomats commend Montenegro’s progress, PM Luksic pledges more hard work

BureauPrime Minister Igor Luksic underlined, during his meeting with diplomats and members of international organizations in Montenegro on Wednesday, that Montenegro will involve all social resources to meet the EC requirements and get the date for launch of EU accession talks and, at the same time, put extensive efforts to improve the living standards of its citizens. ‘’Our objective is not to work hard solely on attaining European goals and to leave our citizens dissatisfied. Those two processes should go hand in hand, we need to strike a balance which will help improve the living standards of our people’’, said the Prime Minister.

He briefed his interlocutors about the results of recent consultations with all social stakeholders which confirmed their full support to Montenegro’s EU integration, adding that the Government’s top priorities also include meeting the EC seven recommendations, as well as further NATO accession, meeting the social and economic agenda and the recovery of the Montenegrin economy. In addition, PM Luksic expressed content with the great response to the round tables on the Action plan for meeting the EC recommendations, in particular emphasizing the importance of NGOs and media participation and a great number of useful suggestions that will be carefully considered.

PM Luksic also acquainted his guests with the national measures for attaining long-term macroeconomic stability and continuation of reforms in education, science, health and welfare services.

Diplomats and members of international organisations complimented the Montenegrin Government’s on positive steps in fulfilling the EC agenda, describing ’’Consultation Days’’ as a very effective means of communication between the Government and all segments of society, which met with a positive public response.
