DPM Dusko Markovic calls for promotion of criminal investigation capabilities
The capabilities of the Joint Investigation Team, the foundation of which was supported by the US Embassy, need to be reinforced and the methodology of work improved in order to meet the challenges of increasingly complex investigations into organized crime and corruption cases, Deputy Prime Minister Dusko Markovic said at a meeting with Resident Legal Advisor at the US Embassy Cecilia Bratten on Tuesday, 15 February.
Mrs Bratten welcomed the “transformation” of the National Commission against Corruption and Organized Crime, describing its inaugural meeting last Friday as “a productive and positive experience”.
She remarked that the Commission’s new methodology of work reveals a clear vision and very good organization, commitment and leadership in tackling the challenges that lie ahead of Montenegro.
The Deputy Prime Minister acquainted Mrs Bratten with the government’s key priorities for the coming period, including EU and NATO integration in the foreign policy sphere and the rule of law, legal certainty for all citizens and economic development in the domestic arena.
He thanked the Embassy and the US government for supporting Montenegro’s EU and NATO membership aspirations.
