EC pledges expert support to Montenegro’s anti-corruption efforts

The European Commission will provide expert support to Montenegro with a view to strengthening the institutional framework for the fight against corruption and increasing the capacity of the prison system, Head of Operation at the EU Delegation in Podgorica Nicola Bertolini told Deputy Prime Minister Dusko Markovic at a meeting on Wednesday, 16 February.
The two officials welcomed the success of EU-funded projects so far and discussed the next steps in their implementation.
The meeting considered the ideas and proposal for institutional transformation of national anti-corruption bodies with a view to promoting their efficiency and effectiveness.
It was noted that the EU’s support to the Montenegrin judicial reform would also include the strengthening of the national prison system, in terms of improving the existing and building new facilities.
