EBRD pledges support to Montenegro’s EU integration efforts

There is a good framework for the continued strategic and regional co-operation with EBRD, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Milan Roćen and Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Jan Fischer concluded at their meeting in Podgorica today.

Minister Roćen underlined that the cooperation with EBRD complements to Government’s key policy priorities. He also stressed the importance of cooperation with EBRD in meeting the requirements for the opening of EU entry talks. In this context he pledged Montenegro’s commitment to being a reliable partner to EBRD.

Mr Fischer congratulated to Montenegro on obtaining the EU candidate status last year and pledged EBRD support to the region’s integration efforts. He made a point of stressing that although small Montenegro is a very successful state that contributes to regional cooperation, underlining that the financial crisis did not undermine the political stability of the region.
