EBRD’s support vital for further development of Montenegrin economy, says PM Luksic

Montenegro has achieved great success in meeting EU objectives and the EBRD will continue to render assistance in terms of infrastructure, finance and energy, with particular focus on environmental protection. "Our doors are wide open for further cooperation in these areas and implementation of your development policies", said Vice President of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Jan Fischer at the meeting with Montenegrin Prime Minister Igor Luksic on Wednesday, February 17.
He also complimented the Government’s new approach to communication with the civil society and other social stakeholders in meeting the EC recommendations, which in his words is done in only few other countries.
Prime Minister Luksic reiterated the Government’s readiness to fulfil priorities given in the EC Opinion, which go hand in hand with meeting requirements of the country’s economic and social agenda in providing better living conditions for the citizens. “The enormous support of the EBRD in the areas that are the backbone of our economic and tourism development is vitally important,” said PM Luksic.
The Prime Minister acquainted his guest with the efforts taken towards maintaining macroeconomic stability, further continuation of structural reforms and advancement of business environment. Vice President Fischer welcomed those activities, stressing that they will reduce bureaucracy expenses, attract investors and narrow the scope of corruption. The EBRD, as he explained, will continue to support the private sector in Montenegro through financial assistance and creation of a good investment environment.
