The Agreement between the European Union and Montenegro establishing a framework for the participation of Montenegro in European Union crisis management operations was signed today in Brussels by Head of Mission of Montenegro to the EU Ambassador Aleksandar Andrija Pejović and Maciej Popowski, Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS).
Mr Popowski assessed that the signing of the Agreement is an important step forward for future Montenegrin involvement in EU operations and underlined that the its implementation will significantly contribute to the deepening and strengthening of cooperation between Montenegro and the EU under the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP).
Ambassador Pejović underlined that this legal framework will, together with the recently signed Agreement between the European Union and Montenegro on security procedures for exchanging and protecting classified information, significantly improve the cooperation between Montenegro and the EU in the area of foreign and security policy. It will also serve as a basis for Montenegrin involvement in military, police, judicial and other EU missions world-wide, which even at this early point shows Montenegro’s dedication to commitments arising from the EU membership.
