The cooperation between the Government and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has thus far been very successful and it will continue in the same fashion during the implementation of the Program for Efficient Management which the USAID will initiate in Montenegro in the near future, Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister Dusko Markovic and USAID Montenegro Director Ramsey Day concluded at a meeting earlier today.

This USAID programme will be aimed at promoting the judicial system and public trust in the work of state administration and courts of law. “It is precisely this activity that is of great importance at this very moment for our domestic development, as well as for achieving our key foreign policy priorities – membership of the EU and NATO,” said DPM Markovic.

The DPM acquainted Mr Day with the Government’s and Justice Ministry’s activities and current challenges. He underlined that the USAID support to the justice system reform and strengthening of the efficiency, transparency and accountability of state bodies is invaluable, adding that the said reforms also fall under the Action Plan for meeting the seven key recommendations for opening of EU accession talks.

USAID representatives acquainted DPM Markovic with the activities they plan to undertake together with the Justice Ministry, the Judicial Council and the Basic Court in Podgorica over the next three years.
