Vucinic met with U.S. Department of State official

Montenegrin Defence Minister Boro Vučinić on the sidelines of the first economic summit U.S. and the Western Balkans in Baltimore (promoting among others defence industry ties) met with Thomas M. Countryman, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs. During the conversation, they discussed the political and technical issues related to the progress of Montenegro in implementing the MAP, in particular the reform of the Army and the implementation of partnership goals of the Annual National Programme.

Countrymansaid that the Summit was an important forum of establishing business cooperation and he encourage our military ties with U.S. military industry companies. He particularly welcomed the role of Montenegro as a catalyst of regional security cooperation and expressed his gratitude from the American government for participation of Montenegro in the ISAF coalition and Montenegrin plans to form a common team consisting of A5 countries and Slovenia, which will train Afghan National Army.

During the meeting Vucinic and Countryman discussed the political and security situation in the region in which Montenegro is seen as an important stabilizing factor.
