PM Luksic: Montenegro could contribute to EU

“I believe that the European vision shares the values of the Enlightenment,” said Prime Minister Igor Luksic in a lecture on the topic “Montenegro and EU Integration” he gave at the 19th German Bankers’ Congress.

He went on to say that “Montenegro has advanced in the European agenda,” adding however that the integration process “is not only about Montenegro joining the EU and bringing prosperity, institution building and a set of shared values to Montenegro.” In fact, he believes “that Montenegro as a small, multiethnic country could enrich the EU and bring the additional added value to the integration process itself.”

In the concluding remarks of his opening speech PM Luksic shared his vision of the future of Montenegro. “I would like to propose the vision of a sovereign society, a society which is able to respond to the challenges of the time we live in. Montenegro should become an EU and NATO member, develop a system in which entrepreneurs could make profit, jobless would pursue jobs instead of looking towards the Government to resolve their problems,” PM Luksic explained. In short, he said, Montenegro would become a prosperous society and based on actions rather than words.
