Podgorica, Montenegro (13 April 2011) -- The Montenegrin government will provide full institutional support for the organization of the Pride Parade, Deputy Prime Minister Dusko Markovic told the gay rights group LGBT Form Progress at a meeting earlier today.
By supporting what is to be the first LGBT rally ever staged in Montenegro, scheduled for 31 May this year in Podgorica, the Government demonstrates its commitment to European values of tolerance, equality and social inclusion.
The Chief of Police, who also attended the meeting, said that the law enforcement authorities will make every effort to ensure full safety of participants and maintain public order during the rally.
The Government has delegated two officials as members of the Pride Parade’s steering committee to help with the logistics for the event.
