Cannes, France – Montenegrin films made their debut at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in France, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and as part of the “South-East European Pavilion” Cannes Village International Riviera no. 135. Many producers, distributors and festival selectors have shown interest in Montenegrin cinematography and discussed various ways of cooperation, including filming in Montenegro.
Pioneering Montenegrin appearance at the Cannes Festival comprised films by Montenegrin producers or filmed in Montenegro in both pre- and post-production, all of them co-sponsored by the Ministry of Culture (Željko Šošić’s “Little Love God,” Branko Baletić’s “Local Vampire,” Nemanja Bečanović’s “The Final Chapter,” and Draško Đurović’s “Ace of Spades”).
The appearance at the Festival served as a good way to promote Montenegrin cinema and discuss collaboration with regional and global filmmakers.
