Montenegro sets example for other transition counties, says US Senator McCain

US Senator John McCain met Saturday, 11 June, with Prime Minister Igor Lukšić for talks on Montenegro’s contribution to ISAF, efforts to promote regional and global security and its NATO and EU integration.

Montenegro is setting an example for other transition countries, not only in the region, said Senator McCain, who is the Ranking Member of the US Senate Committee on Armed Services.

Both sides underlined the importance of cooperation and security in the region.

Senator McCain welcomed Montenegro’s contribution to global security through its role in the ISAF Mission in Afghanistan and voiced US continued support to Montenegro’s NATO bid.

PM Luksic introduced Senator McCain to Montenegro’s decision to increase the number of its troops in ISAF and the preparations for sending a team of instructors, within the US-Adriatic Charter, to train Afghan security forces through the transition process.
