Brussels, Belgium (27 June 2011) – The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) approved earlier today the first Annual Report on the implementation of Montenegro’s Annual National Programme within the NATO Membership Action Plan (MAP).

In Foreign Minister Milan Roćen’s words, the event represents “a great step forward to NATO membership,“ having in mind that the Organisation highly praised the progress Montenegro achieved within the Annual Programme, as well as the overall reforms pursued within the Action Plan for meeting the EU seven key priorities.

He announced the NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen’s visit to Montenegro within the ministerial meeting of the US-Adriatic Charter on Wednesday in Budva as a gesture of strong support for both Montenegro and the region itself.
