Berlin, Germany (30 June 2011) – Prime Minister Igor Lukšić visited Germany and discussed economic cooperation with Dr Rainer Lindner, the Executive Director of the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations, and a group of German entrepreneurs. The two officials agreed that political relationship of the two countries should be supported by an improved and dynamic economic cooperation.

Mr Lukšić and Mr Lindner discussed a Montenegro-Germany economic forum and ways to improve cooperation in areas such as tourism, energy and agriculture. PM Lukšić informed his German hosts of Montenegro’s plans to ensure and maintain long-term macro-economic stability and to improve the business environment: “It is our goal to diversify our economy to the broadest possible extent and to utilise all our resources to the benefit of our citizens.”

The German side said the Government measures for reviving the economy are encouraging and they welcomed the Government economic agenda based on an attractive business environment as stimulating for investors. The entrepreneurs said that in such an environment they recognise their interest to invest in Montenegro and broaden their business networks. They also welcomed Montenegro’s determination to meet criteria necessary for EU and NATO membership, adding that the membership of these organisations would signal stability and reliability of the country’s political and economic environment.

The entrepreneurs voiced their interest in the ongoing projects in Montenegro in the areas of energy, tourism and infrastructure and discussed further communication with the Government regarding those projects.

During his stay in Germany, where he is in a working visit since yesterday at the invitation of Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle, PM Lukšć visited energy giant Vattenfall for talks on the exchange of good practices in the area of energy.
