Podgorica, Montenegro (11 July 2011) – While seeking to enter the European society based on the values of justice and fairness, Montenegro has both the responsibility and the courage to make its contribution to finding the truth and facing the past, the human errors and weaknesses that took away lives, Prime Minister Igor Lukšić said at the opening of a memorial park in Podgorica dedicated to all victims of the civil wars in the former Yugoslavia in the period 1991-2001.

Speaking on the 16th anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre, the PM also made reference to all the unfortunate events that had left Montenegro feeling sad and ashamed, emphasising that “only a clear condemnation of all crimes and offenders can make us live like normal people and neighbours”.

The PM delivered a clear message to all the people who had lost their loved ones that Montenegro and the whole region would never allow those horrible crimes to happen again and expressed his belief that no crime would go unpunished.

“Montenegro must not and will never forget the crimes and the sufferings of your loved ones, because if we do, we would become accomplices in the terrible crime” PM Lukšić concluded.
