Montenegro and Serbia join forces in combating crime during summer tourist season

Belgrade, Serbia (12 July 2011) -- Montenegrin and Serbian police directors, Veselin Veljović and Milorad Veljović, signed the Protocol on cooperation regarding the exchange of police experiences and support in curbing cross-border crime during the 2011 summer tourist season.

The Protocol stipulates the sending of two Serbian police officers to Montenegro, who will be seconded to the police departments of Budva and Herceg Novi until 31 August.

The two chiefs of police pledged to establish closer police cooperation, conducting trainings and providing support in crime prevention, in particular the forms of organised crime such as drug smuggling, trafficking in human beings, fraud, etc.

The Serbian police officers will also render assistance to the Montenegrin police in investigating crimes committed by or against Serbian citizens.
