Podgorica, Montenegro (14 July 2011) - Prime Minister Igor Lukšić censured this morning’s torching of two company cars owned by the Montenegrin daily newspaper ND Vijesti.
He urged the police to bring the perpetrator of this act of vandalism to justice as soon as possible.
The Prime Minister underlined that the incident is in sharp contrast with the Montenegrin government’s continued efforts to promote and protect media freedom.
“This government considers the freedom of journalism as one of the pillars of democracy and a driving force behind the progress of the whole society,” said PM Lukšić.
Two company cars owned by the daily ND Vijesti were torched by an unknown perpetrator outside the company building in Podgorica early on Thursday. The police are investigating the case.
