Podgorica, Montenegro (19 July 2011) -- Interior Minister Ivan Brajović and Head of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro Sarunas Adomavicius signed the Memorandum on cooperation which defines the forms of the OSCE support to the Interior Ministry and the establishment of democratic, professional and skilful police force in line with international and European standards.

The OSCE Mission will continue to provide, as Mr Adomavicius noted, expert, technical and material assistance to Montenegro in the fields of combating organised, computer and cross-border crime, as well as illegal migrations, human trafficking, smuggling of narcotics and weapons, etc.

He also pledged the Mission’s support in developing the most efficient systems of internal control and internal investigative and anti-corruption capacities, as well as in education and trainings of police officers.

The Head of OSCE mission welcomed the project, sponsored by the OSCE mission to Montenegro, regarding regional cooperation in combating organised crime in South East Europe, which resulted in the adoption of Budva Declaration in March, announcing more similar events in the coming period.
