Meeting Vucinic - Knight-Sands

Minister of Defence Boro Vucinic met today with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom Catherine Knight-Sands and Non-Resident Military Attaché William Pemble Owen English.
Minister Vucinic informed the Ambassador and the Military Attaché of the United Kingdom on the level of defence system reform achieved in Montenegro and on the level of the requirements met in order to achieve full membership in NATO.
During the meeting, Minister Vucinic spoke about the most challenging tasks of the Ministry of Defence in the future - destroying of surplus ammunition and weapons, establishing an integrated sea and air control system, training the members of the Armed Forces of Montenegro and continuing the defence system reform. Minister emphasized that Long Term Development Plan is also being prepared.
Ambassador Catherine Knight-Sands pointed out that the United Kingdom gives strong support to Montenegro in the process of reform in order to achieve its strategic goals, NATO and EU membership, and also stressed the importance of regional cooperation.
Minister Vucinic welcomed the appointment of the Military Attaché of the United Kingdom in Montenegro, adding that this is a proof of good cooperation between the two countries, and sent greetings to the Minister of Defence of Great Britain Liam Fox with whom he met during the NATO + ISAF conference held in Brussels in June.
Military Attaché of the United Kingdom expressed his pleasure to be able to help in improving cooperation between the two countries and stressed his readiness to make his full contribution to Euro-Atlantic integration of Montenegro. He also stressed the importance of regional cooperation and expressed his interest in the Regional Centre for Training Helicopter Pilots in Golubovci.
After meeting with Minister Vucinic, Military Attaché visited the Regional Centre in Golubovci.
