Montenegro police arrest suspects for major weapon smuggling
Podgorica, Montenegro (30 August 2011) – Montenegro Police cracked down Monday on a major weapon smuggling scheme, arrested two and seized a large quantity of weaponry.
The several-month long investigation, dubbed “Viktorija,” was a coordinated law enforcement operation in several Montenegrin towns based on police intelligence regarding an international group suspected of smuggling weapons from Bosnia and Herzegovina through Montenegro to Kosovo as the final destination.
Operation “Viktorija” resulted in the apprehension of two suspects for illegal possession of weapons and explosives and the capture of a large quantity of weaponry. The prosecution is currently investigating the involvement of other persons and may raise further charges.
