21st Economic Forum: Poland offers assistance in border security, fight against crime, hopes for soon EU entry talks

Krynica Zdrój, Poland (9 September 2011) – At the 21st Economic Forum in Krynica Zdrój, Poland, Interior Minister Ivan Brajović met with his counterpart Jerzy Miller who offered Polish expert assistance and knowledge transfer in the areas such as border security and criminal investigation, in particularly related to finance and fraud.
The two interior ministers agreed at the meeting that the expert teams should define in the nearest future the exact areas in which Polish experience will be shared in the best interest of Montenegro’s quicker progress towards the adoption and implementation of standards and best practices of the EU.
Mr Miller welcomed Government’s reform efforts and said that Montenegro is accomplishing a notable progress in European integration, adding that such work, if continued in the same fashion, will enable for the soon opening of EU accession talks for Montenegro. The two ministers also underlined that close regional cooperation is very important for EU accession, and the Polish minister noted that Montenegro is a good example of such policy in the Balkans region.
Poland is currently presiding the European Union. The Economic Forum is the largest organisation of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe gathering heads of state, politicians, businessmen and academics from throughout the world with the view to enhancing dialogue, cooperation and exchange of experience among states. Montenegro is represented at the Forum by Minister Brajović and Finance Minister Milorad Katnić.
