Montenegro makes progress in public administration reform, migrations control and border surveillance

Podgorica, Montenegro (9 September 2011) – Within the public administration reform process, the Government adopted the Report on the settlement of administrative cases in 2010 on Thursday, 8 September. The report examines key issues related to the direct application of regulations and protection of public interests, and the protection of natural and legal persons in proceedings before state agencies.

The Government adopted concrete measures aimed at ensuring the realisation of the basic objectives of public administration reform through upgrading efficiency, effectiveness, professionalism and accessibility of service-oriented public administration, which is in line with the EU standards.

The Cabinet also adopted the Information on the project of electronic border surveillance and came to a conclusion that the achieved level of implementation of the system made ​​a significant contribution to combating all forms of cross-border crime.

The Government adopted the Draft Law on the Ratification of Agreement between the Government of Montenegro and the Republic of Kosovo on the readmission of persons without a residence permit. Its adoption will ensure effective implementation of migration control policies and further strengthening of regional stability in line with the EU legislation, the Cabinet concluded.

The Government adopted the Information on the preparation of the Strategy for sustainable economic growth of Montenegro through introducing clusters by the end of 2016. The aim of the project is to advance the competitiveness and market access of selected clusters and networks in Montenegro, with special emphasis on the poorer northern region and to encourage more balanced integration of small and medium enterprises from the region into national and international value/supply chains.
