Montenegro’s Senior Sgt 1st Class Mijailo Perisic dies of cardiac arrest in Afghanistan

Pol-e Khomri, Afghanistan (11 October 2011) – Montenegro’s Senior Sergeant 1st Class Mijailo Perisic (40) passed away from cardiac arrest yesterday evening in his dormitory at the military base Panonia in Pol-e Khomri region, Afghanistan.

Sgt Perišić spent his afternoon off doing leisure activities and while taking rest at the dormitory suffered a cardiac arrest. Montenegrin and Hungarian medical teams attempted CPR procedures immediately, but unfortunately to no avail. Death was pronounced at 18:43 local time.

Before deployment to the ISAF mission, Sgt Perišić passed all the required medical tests. During his service in Afghanistan he performed all his duties regularly. The medical report says that during his deployment he did not require any medical assistance, and has not reported any illness.

Senior Sgt 1st Class Mijailo Perisic was born on 21 February 1971 in Nikšić, Montenegro. He was a member of the IV Contingent of the Montenegrin armed forces deployed in the UN ISAF Mission in Afghanistan since 22 August 2011.
