Minister Boro Vucinic met on Tuesday 11 October, during his first official visit to the People’s Reepublic of China, with Vice Chairman of China's Central Military Commission General Guo Boxiong.

Minister Vucinic said that this visit represents a step forward in the development and improvement of traditionally good relations between Montenegro and the People's Republic of China. It was noted that, in addition to cooperation in defence, development of economic relations is of particular importance for both countries.

Minister Vucinic said that the Montenegrin Armed Forces, which was founded just five years ago, has so far achieved remarkable results in building the defence system, but certainly it wil further develop and continue with the defence and military reforms.

China will strengthen military ties with Montenegro and promote relations between both countries' militaries, General Guo Boxiong said. During a meeting with Vucinic, General Guo Boxiong said bilateral relations have reached a new level since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 2006.

"Both countries have deepened their mutual political trust and supported each other on issues of mutual concern. China is willing to further promote military-to-military relations under the principle of equality and mutual benefit," General Guo Boxiong added.

The role of the embassies in Podgorica and Beijing was also highlighted as a significant link in developing traditional friendly relations between the two countries.

The ambassador of Montenegro in China, Ljiljana Tošković was also in the delegation of the Minister of Defence Boro Vucinic.
