Minister Vucinic meets Lt.-Gen. Liang Guang, Chinese Minister of Defence

Lt.-Gen. Liang Guanglie, Chinese Minister of Defence, received the Minister of Defence of Montenegro, Boro Vucinic. Minister Vucinic said that this meeting represents a continuation of traditionally good relations between Montenegro and the People's Republic of China, established through meetings of the highest state leadership of the two countries.

Minister Vucinic said that the development of cooperation in the defence will certainly be beneficial. He spoke to General Liang about the strategic foreign policy goals of Montenegro and the results achieved so far in the process of defence reform. He expressed hope that the cooperation between ministries and armies of the two countries after the signing of the Memorandum on Cooperation in defence will intensify the cooperation through annual bilateral plans.

Minister Liang said that in the past five years, since diplomatic relations between Montenegro and China were established, the development of relations between the two countries was evident. He said he expects relations between the two ministries and two armies to be raised to a higher level after this visit.

Military cooperation will be implemented through visits of the high military personnel, training, exchange of professional experience of mutual benefit, and cooperation in the military power.

During the visit, a Memorandum of Cooperation between the ministries of defence of Montenegro and China was signed, as well as the Donation Agreement between the two ministries. Donation of the Ministry of Defence of the People’s Republic of China includes communication/information equipment and its value is 5,000,000 Yuan (more than half a million euro).

Minister Vucinic had the opportunity to visit and meet with the organization and the work of the 196th Chinese Army Infantry Brigade located in Tianjin.

Minister Vucinic thanked for the extraordinary welcome during his visit, and invited General Liang to visit Montenegro.
