Nikšić, Montenegro (18 November 2011) – The Montenegrin Police arrested three persons earlier today on suspicion of physically assaulting and abusing a three-member crew of Vijesti TV and newspaper journalists.
The three Vijesti journalists, a TV reporter, a cameramen and a newspaper photographer, were attacked and verbally abused while filming a report at a location on the outskirts of the city of Niksic, Montenegro’s second largest city. The journalists reported the incident to the local police and three suspects were soon arrested.
The first of the suspects, 58-year-old D.K. from Niksic, is facing criminal charges for violent conduct. The second, M.Š., 44, from Trebinje, Bosnia and Herzegovina, has been charged with a misdemeanor count of verbally abusing the journalists, while the police released the third suspect, M.G. from Niksic, having found no elements of criminal or misdemeanor liability in his conduct.
