USA is proud to be Montenegro's partner, Pentagon official says

Podgorica, Montenegro (18 Novembar 2011) -- Montenegro has made tramendous progress towards meeting NATO membership agenda, representing a positive example for the region as a stable and multiethnic country which has done a lot for itself, region and the international community, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Celeste Wallander told the press following the bilateral military consultations between Montenegro and USA in Podgorica earlier today.

“The USA is proud to be your partner and we look forward to our continued partnership and deepening relationship,” she underlined.

Today’s meeting addressed the ways of future cooperation between the two armed forces in 2012.

Defence Minister Boro Vučinić expressed hope that, with US partners' support, Montenegro will manage to enhance its military capacity, educate its personnel in prestigious US schools and military centres, resolve significant issues regarding security, namely sea protection and sky control, and amend its defence and military laws with the aim of meeting NATO membership standards.
