Tel Aviv, Israel (23 November 2011) – Foreign Minister Milan Roćen paid an official visit to Israel, where the business conference entitled “Gateway to Montenegro” is being held by the Israeli Foreign Ministry and Honorary Consulate of Montenegro in Tel Aviv.

The conference brings together the two governments’ and chambers of commerce’s representatives and businessmen from both countries with the aim of presenting Montenegro’s potentials and reinforcing mutual cooperation and understanding.

In the international community, Montenegro has been recognised as a stability factor and a success European story, attractive investment and tourist destination, open to new technologies with stable business environment, Minister Roćen remarked at the opening ceremony.

“Israel is a source of knowledge and new technologies that Montenegro needs,” he added, “therefore we want to learn from you, make business with you and do our best to attract your tourists and investments.”

On this occasion, which, in FM Roćen's words, is to mark the turning point in the two countries’ relations, he reminded of the results that have been achieved to date, particularly referring to the ample legal framework that guides the overall cooperation, which is enhanced by the yesterday’s signing of the cultural cooperation agreement in Jerusalem.

The Foreign Minister especially praised the establishment of the first Jewish community in Montenegro’s history a few months ago, as well as the setting up of the first Jewish non-governmental organisation, as a contribution to enriching Montenegro’s multiethnic society and cultural heritage.
