Podgorica, Montenegro (14 December 2011) -- The moral obligation of the Montenegrin society is to respect children's dignity and make it possible for each of them, without distinction, to realise their full potential, also recognised in the UN Convention on the Righths of the Child, Prime Minister Igor Lukšić remarked at the presentation of this year's results of the campaign “It’s about ability“ earlier today.
“Smiling faces adorning billboards throughout Montenegro, videos and numerous events organised within the campaign, slowly but surely manage to do the hardest thing – to raise awareness and change attitudes of our fellow citizens, thus changing the traditional mode of thinking which led to children’s isolation and exclusion from public life“, PM Lukšić underlined, perceiving it as a basis of an open society of equal opportunities Montenegro aspires for.
The aim of the campaign “It’s about ability“is to promote children with disabilities' participation in social life by encougaring changes in people's attitude towards them. The campaign, launched on 11 September 2010, brough together over 100 partners including the Government, UNICEF, EU Delegation, Council of Europe, UN Office, OSCE, embassies, numerous NGOs, the media, private sector, etc. The campaign is to be continued in 2012.
