Goverment to focus on implementation of adopted legislation

Podgorica, Montenegro (23 december 2011) --The government will, in the coming period, put emphasis on the implementation of the legislative framework adopted in 2011, Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister Duško Marković underlined at the meeting with US Ambassador Sue K. Brown earlier today.

Montenegro has proved it is capable of adopting and implementing the standards of modern civilization and is ready to cope with even more demanding agenda. In the process, Montenegro counts on the support of its international partners, including the USA, DPM Marković reiterated.

He emphasised the results of the implementation of the Agreement on Law Enforcement, signed between the Montenegrin and US governments in July 2011, in particular the establishment of the Special Investigative Team.

Ambassador Brown noted that Montenegro’s progress is visible in all fields and that it needs to continue pursuing reforms. She paid special attention to a great number of successfully realised projects related to the rule of law and law enforcement and praised the cooperation with the Montenegrin police.

She also stressed that US Government will continue to provide support to Montenegro in the spirit of partnership and good relation between the two countries.
