Montenegrin police arrests 16 members of international drug trafficking ring

Podgorica, Montenegro (26 December 2011) -- The Montenegrin police arrested today 16 persons on suspicion of being part of an international skunk cannabis smuggling ring and seized nearly 17 kg of the highly potent drug.
The operation, codenamed ‘Trio’, was simultaneously conducted on the territories of Montenegro, Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina earlier today, resulting in dozens of arrests in the three countries.
The operation was first launched in June 2011 in cooperation with police authorities of Croatia and Serbia. To this day the combined efforts of law enforcement agencies in the region led to the seizure of more than 350 kg of skunk cannabis, as well as different types of weapons, vehicles and suspected criminal proceeds.
