Meeting with NATO Ambassadors
On 9 February in Villa Gorica, Deputy Minister for Defence Policy Ivan Masulovic disscused with Ambassadors to NATO in Brussels: Hungarian Ambassador Istvan Kovacs, Romanian Ambassador Sorin Dumitru Dukaru, Belgium Ambassador Rudolf Huygelen, Portuguese Ambassador Joao Mira Gomes an Albanian Artur Kuko. Slovenian Ambassador in Montenegro Vladimir Gasparic, Chief of General Staff of Armed Forces of Montenegro Vice Admiral Dragan Samardzic, Head of NATO and the EU Department Captain Dragoslav Pumpalovic and Head of International Relations Department Major Sasa Jovanovic attended the meeting.
Deputy Minister Masulovic introduced Ambassadors with present results realized in the reforms process of Montenegrin defence system and with planning and activities for getting full NATO membership. He emphasised commitment of Montenegro to continue developing of regional cooperation and cooperation with partners, NATO members. In the coming period, Montenegro will continue to cooperate with all countries which share the strategic orientation with Montenegro, and in that effect it expects full support in the forthcoming reform process.
Ambassadors approved obvious progress that Montenegro has made in the way of Euro-Atlantic integrations and said that we could rely on full support of theirs Countries Governments in the reform process in our efforts to become full member of great alliance of equal countries, such as NATO.
During the discussion the themes that arose were plans on the field of public diplomacy – increasing public support for NATO entering, further reforms process in the defence system and types of support that NATO members could provide to Montenegro in the forthcoming period.
