"Gazelle" in the train passengers rescue action
After a complex operation in the adverse weather conditions, today during late afternoon hours, the evacuation of the passengers from blocked train in railway station Trebešica has been successfully completed. One helicopter of Ministry of Interior of Montenegro and two helicopters of the Armed Forces of Montenegro were used in the rescue action.
In a series of consecutive flights from station Trebešica to Bioče, all passengers, railway staff, two members of train police escort and Special Police Unit members, including TV “Vijesti” cameraman – a total of 72 persons, were evacuated. This ended a multi-day drama and the completion of rescuing action has met the highest professional standards.
Special acknowledgments were given to Special Police Unit and its commander Miloš Vučinić, pilots Slavko Ilić and Željko Loncović, as well as to the Air Force pilots of the Armed Forces of Montenegro – Lt Col Živko Pejović, Lt Col Zoran Katanić, Lt Col Slobo Peruničić and Maj Dušan Malušić for courage, determination and professionalism in carrying out the most complex tasks in the extreme meteorological conditions.
