Montenegro and Poland to exchange good practices in rule of law and judiciary reform
Podgorica, Montenegro (27 February 2012) – Ministries of justice of Montenegro and Poland will soon sign a Memo on cooperation for the exchange of experience and good practices in the rule of law and judiciary reform areas, Justice Minister Duško Marković and Polish Ambassador Grazina Sikorska announced at their meeting earlier today in Podgorica.
The two officials agreed that joint work in the area of judiciary will be beneficial to the relationship between Montenegro and Poland and will also boost their cooperation in culture, science, tourism, and economy.
Mr Marković discussed with Ms Sikorska Montenegro’s priorities and challenges prior to the opening of accession negotiations with the EU and he underlined the new accession concept under which the chapters 23 and 24 are discussed in the first negotiations phase. The Justice Minister also informed the ambassador of the results Montenegro has achieved in its NATO bid.
Ms Sikorska congratulated to Mr Marković on the important results achieved this far towards strengthening the rule of law and fight against corruption and organised crime. She noted these were among the key preconditions in order for Montenegro to remain attractive to foreign investors. She underlined that Poland will continue strongly to support Montenegro on its path towards EU and NATO integration.
