Podgorica, Montenegro (29 February 2012) – Secretary General of the Government of Montenegro Žarko Šturanović and UNDP Resident Representative Rastislav Vrbensky signed earlier today the Agreement on the implementation of the project titled “Promoting good governance through strengthening capacities of the Government of Montenegro for strategic communications and international public relations.”
The project will focus on building the capacities of Government’s PR officers to communicate strategic policies and initiatives to domestic and international public.
Furthermore, the project’s aim is to promote, through capacity building efforts, the principles of participative democracy and to enhance public participation in Government’s policy-making processes.
Secretary General Šturanović and Mr Vrbensky agreed that the Agreement marks the continuation of the very successful and fruitful cooperation in the field of public administration capacity building.
The project will include a number of training programmes for spokespersons and PR officers from all government departments and the PR Bureau staff, as well as the first regional conference on government communication in South-Eastern Europe.
This regional conference, planned to take place for September 2012 in Montenegro, will bring together heads of government PR offices from the region and a number of reputable European and US government communication experts.
