PM Lukšić meets with Turkish officials to discuss deepening political and economic ties
Podgorica, Montenegro (16 March 2012) -- Prime Minister Igor Lukšić’s state visit to Turkey is an additional incentive to deepen political dialogue and upgrade cooperation. The two countries traditionally enjoy good bilateral relations with no open issues and the continued dialogue may serve as an example of how the cooperation between two countries can be fruitful and friendly, PM Lukšić’s meetings with senior Turkish officials concluded on Thursday.
Turkish President Abdullah Gul voiced satisfaction over the first PM Lukšić’s official visit to Turkey which is to result in intensifying cooperation in all spheres, especially the economic one. This is supported by the agreements having been signed by two governments’ officials on Wednesday, President Gul emphasised.
He also welcomed Montenegro’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration efforts, adding that Turkey will continue to provide wholehearted support to Montenegro in its EU and NATO bid.
Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Çiçek also voiced Turkey’s readiness to fully support Montenegro. He stressed that if Turkey could choose its neighbours, Montenegro would certainly be in the first place.
Good political relations should be accompanied by economic ones, PM Lukšić’s noted. In that context, the agreements are supposed to give a new dimension to the two countries’ relations, attract investors and boost business ties, the two officials concluded.
