Published on: Mar 20, 2012 9:09 PM Author: Ivona Mihajlovic

Montenegro began participating in the International Monetary Fund’s General Data Dissemination System on December 5, 2011. Comprehensive information on the statistical production and dissemination practices of Montenegro now appears on the IMF’s Dissemination Standards Bulletin Board.

The General Data Dissemination System is a structured process through which IMF member countries commit voluntarily to improving the quality of the data produced and disseminated by their statistical systems over the long run to meet the needs of high-quality macroeconomic analysis. It provides a framework to help countries to develop their statistical systems to produce comprehensive and accurate statistics which are needed for policy decision and analysis.
GDDS data are divided in following categories:

-Real sector
-Fiscal sector
-Financial sector
-External sector
-Socio-demographic data

Chart with fiscal and public debt data, made in accordance with GDDS, is enclosed. From now on Ministry of Finance will update data on budget and public debt monthly, and data on local self-government, i.e. public finance, quarterly.
