Montenegro to host conference on legal solutions in fighting against organised crime

Podgrica, Montenegro -- The conference on legal solutions in the fight against organised crime will take place in Budva, Montenegro on 27-30 March 2012.

The keynote speaker at the Conference will be Pietro Grasso, Italian Chief Anti-Mafia Prosecutor.

The conference is sponsored by the Montenegrin Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, under the auspices of the US and Italian embassies in Montenegro.

The best prosecutors and investigators from the USA, Italy and Croatia, involved in combating organsed crime, are to present their experiences to the Montenegrin officials that are in charge of policy making and legislation drafting, investigation, criminal prosecution and adjudication of organised crime cases, with special emphasis on the legal solutions that have proven successful in fighting against organised crime.

The conference participants will attempt to indentify the solutions that could advance Montenegrin legislative framework. They will also discuss the possibility of launching legislative initiatives in this field in Montenegro.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice and Human Rights Duko Marković will open the conference. The intoduction speeches will be given by the US, Italian and Croatian Ambassadors to Montenegro, Sue K. Brown, Sergio Barbanti and Petar Turčinović.

The conference will take place in the hotel  “Maestral”, starting at 9.30.

The opening of the conference (introduction and keynote speeches), as well as the closing session, will be open to media.
